Elkhart Lake Street Concours Tour

Tour

About this event

In recent years, it's become a PCA-Milwaukee Region tradition to drive twisty, hilly backroads through the North Kettle Moraine to Elkhart Lake for dinner at the Lake Street Cafe, and afterwards to attend the Concours d'Elegance on the downtown streets.  In this unusual year, we'll endeavor to keep the tradition alive, but, some changes will be required.  While, we'll still do the backroads drive, and have (an optional) dinner at Lake Street, the on-street concours (for this year only) will be moved just down the road, to the streets of downtown Plymouth.  At Lake Street Cafe, we hope to eat outdoors, weather permitting.  Whether we eat outdoors or indoors, we'll be seated at tables of 4 or 6, as opposed to the larger-group arrangement we've been accustomed to in the past.  If you are not comfortable with the dining arrangements, you may simply opt out of joining us for dinner.

The backroads tour will start in the Cedarburg area.  Details regarding the starting place and time will be provided to those registered for the event.  To minimize paper handling, driving directions will be sent electronically to all registered participants a few days prior to the tour.  Participants should print out these directions at home, and bring with them for use on the drive.  Attending the concours in Plymouth after dinner in Elkhart Lake is entirely optional.  If you want to take in the concours, please make your own plans to do so.

Event requirements

All participants (both driver and navigator (if applicable)) must agree to sign two documents: 1) the standard PCA Event Waiver and 2) the PCA COVID-19 Release, in order to participate in the tour to Elkhart Lake.  We are now enabled to sign both documents electronically on the MotorsportReg ("MSR") website using an app called SpeedWaiver.  There will be a link to the SpeedWaiver app in both the registration confirmation page as well as the confirmation email. Both signed documents can be downloaded onto your smartphone(s) to be displayed at event check-in.  If any difficulty is experienced in accomplishing this download, please contact Alan Wagner (262) 416-8503.

This tour is one small step toward getting back on our busy 2020 schedule that has been derailed by the Coronavirus pandemic.  We will be following health & safety guidelines established specifically for this event.  These guidelines are listed below:

1.    If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home.
2.    Registration for the tour shall be accomplished electronically via MSR (hopefully that's why you are reading this) a minimum of 7 days prior to the tour departure date (i.e., by 5:00 PM CDT on July 18, 2020 aka: the "deadline").
3.    No late, nor on-site, registrations shall be accepted.
4.    The tour leader will provide details of the tour starting location and time electronically to registered participants, at least 5 days in advance of the tour start.
5.    Driving directions will be submitted to all registered participants electronically a minimum of 5 days in advance of the tour date.  Participants should plan to print the directions (preferably on a color-capable printer because certain critical directions are highlighted in color) and bring them for use on the event.
6.    Both the standard PCA event waiver and the PCA COVID-19 release must be signed electronically by each participant in advance on MotorsportReg.com (“MSR”) and displayed on participants’ smart phone at check in for the tour.
7.    The tour leader will wear a face mask during the review of waivers on participants’ smart phones.  The participants shall also wear face masks during the check-in process.
8.    During the Drivers’/Navigators’ meeting, and other times together, a minimum of six-foot social distancing and the wearing of face masks is strongly recommended.
9.    No touching of any car (other than your own) shall be allowed.

10.  The PCA-MR official event will end upon reaching Elkhart Lake.  Dinner afterwards at Lake Street Cafe is entirely optional.
11.  The optional group dinner is planned for 5:00 PM at Lake Street Cafe in Elkhart Lake, WI.  Lake Street has indicated that tables will be spaced to the extent possible to promote distancing, and that we will eat outdoors if the weather cooperates.  However, participants should recognize that we may have to eat indoors, that distancing is, to a large degree, out of our control, and that they will likely be seated at a table with 2 or 4 other participants.  If the risk associated with this arrangement is considered excessive, you may opt out of the group dinner.
12.  The on-street concours event in Plymouth is also optional.  If tour participants elect to take in the concours, they will be doing so entirely on their own.
